Bachelor of Physiotherapy

·        Bachelor of Physiotherapy course is offered on a full time basis. The course uses a hands on approach that puts emphasizes on client centered, inter professional and evidence based practice. InYear I, we will focus on basic human biosciences &on developing an understanding of the foundation of the human engineering system and the role of health professionals in health / welfare sectors.

·        In Year II, student’s begins to develop physiotherapy skills and further explore the biosciences like pathology & pharmacology. By the III&IV years, students will be able to apply their knowledge & practical skills to physiotherapy management for disorders across the life – span. During the pre-clinical semesters, students develop the practical aspects of physiotherapy through simulated learning environment and by practicing on each other.

·        Course Duration | 4 and ½ years

·        Eligibility | Must be within the age limit of 17-35 years. Should have completed Pre- University course (10+2) pass with 45% marks in aggregate, in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with English as the medium of study.

Master of Physiotherapy

·        The Master of Physiotherapy course provides a fast track learning experience for talented students who already hold a degree, to gain the knowledge, skill, attitude and behavior expected of an entry level physiotherapist.

·        The course has a hybrid structure using curriculum (to efficiently learn foundation knowledge) together with case studies and clinical practice (to integrate knowledge into clinical decision making). The course emphasizes evidence based practice and encourages students in critical thinking.

·        Commencement of Session Month | May/October

·        Duration of Course | The duration of Masters of Physiotherapy (MPT) is 2 years full time with the medium of instruction being English during the course of study and for the examination.

·        Eligibility | Candidates who have passed B.Sc. (PT) of BPT degree with minimum 3½ years / 4½ years duration from RGUHS or any other university in India pr abroad as equivalent with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate and have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship in a recognized Physiotherapy College are eligible.

·        Candidate who have passed BPT through correspondence or distant education program are not eligible.

Qualifying Examination

A Candidate seeking admission to first year Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT):

·        Should have passed two year Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also.

·        OR

·        Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards / Councils / Intermediate examination established by State Government / Central Government and recognized as equivalent to a two year Pre University Examination by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences / Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also.

·        OR

·        Candidates who have completed Pre-university course with Vocational Physiotherapy as their optional subject are eligible for admission to BPT course.

·        OR

·        Lateral entry shall be to III year of the 41/2 years BPT Course

·        The students who have completed DPT course conducted by paramedical board are eligible for lateral entry.
